Coach Kim started archery in 1967 when archery was first introduced to Korea. In 1971 he became the first Korean archery coach and studied and further developed archery techniques. Coach Kim established the fundamental of Korean archery by passing on archery know-hows to Korean coaches and athletes from 1983 to 1983, nurturing the first gold and bronze medal at the 1984 LA Olympics and several world records. Also from 1989 to 1994, he led the Taiwanese national team and to the level of world class. For 12 years since 2002 as elected Coach Committee of the World Archery Federation, Coach Kim had conducted seminars, coached archers across the world and participated developing a coaching manual. Coach Kim could provide opportunities to several archery coaches and archers across the world by publishing the Kim, Hyung-tak archery book, and current Korean archers follow the coaching manual which was published by Korea Archery Association in 2012 In 2004 coach Kim opened Kim, Hyung-Tak Archery School, and since then 2000 archers from 40 countries have trained at this training center, and many archers could gained the successful results at Olympics and World Championships. And in the present, many archers and teams are training at coach Kim Training Center. Coach Kim participated 2015 Summer Universiade as a compound coach of Korean national team, and nurtured 3 gold medals at individual, team and mixed team events. Coach Kim popularized new compound techniques to Korea, and has helped to be top of the world rapidly. Especially, with dart fish, the video program, coach Kim analyzes the technique of archer accurately so archers can gain the better results in a short time.
